This cross between two beloved heirlooms, Cherokee Purple and Carbon, produces gorgeous purple beefsteak tomatoes with a wonderfully complex flavor. Part of the Heirloom Marriage Series, Cherokee Carbon Hybrid Tomato offers the outstanding heirloom flavor along with higher yields, early maturity and fruits with less cracking and blemishing. The 10-12 oz. beefsteak fruits are excellent sliced and served on sandwiches. Cherokee Carbon was the 2005 “Heirloom Garden Show” best-tasting tomato award winner, and is one of our favorites, too. The indeterminate plants grow from 5-7 ft. tall and require staking. 75-80 DAYS.
