Here’s a great way to sample Oriental poppies–while filling up an open area with eye-popping color. Large-flowered (up to 6 inches across!) selections in vivid shades of orange, red, pink, and salmon. Individually unique and showy; dazzling when grouped. Plus, they flower at a time when spring favorites are done and summer perennials aren’t quite out yet, filling the blooming gap handily. Sun-lovers, they appreciate light shade in the hottest part of the day. Light-green, ferny foliage makes the perfect backdrop.
Best grown in fertile, well-drained soil. Plants are about 2 to 3 feet tall and wide. Zones 3-7.
