Deep rosy-pink leaves with green centers
Loose, ruffled heads
Mild flavor
Slow to bolt
Can be grown in the garden or containers
Quite possibly the prettiest lettuce we’ve grown! The deep rosy-pink leaves are tinted with green and very ruffled—they make a dramatic addition to any salad. A looseleaf variety, Red Velvet forms loose heads and is slow to bolt. The leaves have a nice mild flavor. In our trial garden, Red Velvet exhibited no disease problems. One of the easiest and most rewarding vegetables to grow, lettuce can be grown in containers or the garden. This very ornamental variety also looks right at home in flower beds. Lettuce seeds can be directly sown into the garden and is a favorite for both the spring and fall gardens. 50-55 DAYS.
